This is it.
The final battle.
It took some negotiation, some ferrying, some pleading, and some waiting, but Mia was able to do it. She was there, ready to join the fight.
Her timing might have been a bit off, though. The battle had already started and she had jumped into the thick of it.
Thank goodness her magic managed to work, not to mention that she was smart enough to bring plenty of healing nuts, star lights, angel's tears, and angel's rings. She had given some away to whoever she could find on her side, but she had at least two rings on.
There were many incidents, but there was one Mia was particularly proud of. And hopefully one Axel would be proud of. Somehow in the fray, she had been muted, and two gloating Death Eaters took their time closing in on the poor Slytherin (as Draco's clothes that she had taken from their room suggested) who thought to fight against Voldemort.
Imagine how they laughed when suddenly her arms and legs slowly became engulfed by flames.
Imagine how they burned.
And at that point, Mia was a living flame, burning Death Eaters in her path.
It was quite a sight. It was quite a fight. One that took a couple of star lights to recover from.
But worth it.
Now if she can only survive the rest of the battle.
And make sure Draco is all right.

He wasn't sure where to go, other trying to get away and escape. Utterly helpless with no way to defend himself really. He didn't even have his dagger handy, that was still back in Milliways.

It's likely that Draco will get a lecture about leaving behind something as vital to a battle as a weapon, but Mia's more concerned about the part where Draco's alive for the lecture.
But it didn't take long, a very brief rest in a thankfully ignored corner, before-
"POTTER!"
"CHARGE!"
"Wheeeeeeeeeeee!"
And there was a great clatter of desks and Snargaluff pods.
Mia would pause and ponder, as it is very strange, but she knows that can come later. She points out as many people that aren't clearly Death Eaters and starts casting protection spells on them before focusing on attacking again.

"I'm Draco Malfoy! I'm Draco, I'm on your side!" But the other didn't believe him, and was pointing his wand at him.
Suddenly he keels over, and Draco brightened, wondering who saved him.
WHAM!
A bemused expression appeared on his face as he realized who it must be, Ron's "And that's the second time we've saved your life, you two faced bastard!" yell still ringing in his ears.
Never would have guessed that you cared, Weasley.
He slowly got up, and hurried along, still seeking a place to hide.

And then she heard the shout, "And that's the second time we've saved your life, you two faced bastard!"
The voice wasn't familiar, but the tone sure was.
Though it seemed to come from.......nowhere?
That's when she noticed who got punched and tossed a healing nut in his direction before running off to continue the fight.
From:

A healing nut?
It couldn't have fallen out of his pockets, so that meant...
He looked around in the chaos, it couldn't be. She couldn't have come here.
"Mia?" He even said out loud.
He ate the nut, and started to search around. But then had to duck around another pair dueling feverishly.

There are more fights, some close calls (thank goodness it was a Stupefy spell that hit her when her guard was down and not an Avada Kedavra), and some more fire.
Until Mia got distracted by something more substantial.
"Harry Potter is dead. He was killed as he ran away, trying to save himself....."
It continued after that, but she was stuck on the first part.
Harry Potter is dead.
Harry Potter is dead?
Oh god, if Harry's dead-
"Come out of the castle," was the only part she heard after that. Her guard still up, she went with the throng.
Oh god.......

No, no, not supposed to be this way. Damn you Potter, you were supposed to fix this! That hypocritical bastard was supposed to die, not you!
Damn you!

The events outside certainly were interesting.
Naturally, she joined the cheer when Neville made his call, though the appearance of Gwarp out there stifled her a little.
And then things were a blur once again, at least until it came to fighting once again.
Though two cries put everything into sharp focus.
"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!"
Well, Mia can't exactly say that she's sorry Bellatrix is dead. Perhaps a little sorry that Rodolphus isn't dead along with her.
And then the one that truly made things right. The one that would preface everything that came after.
"HE'S ALIVE!"
She didn't dare believe it for a moment.
Didn't dare believe that anything so wonderful could be true.
So she focused on the fight, more subtle this time. Death Eaters finding their magic sealed, wands burning in their hands, and limbs freezing.

He was also surprised that Death Eaters spells weren't really affecting him like they would normally. His shield charms were all right, but that effective? Even against Unforgivables?
And then he heard Potter's explanation of protection. ...Even for him? When he had every reason not to extend to him? Just because he couldn't give him up, or let Crabbe kill him?
Then other things, Snape... He was dead? And had been working for Dumbledore all along? Even last year?
And then Potter later said something that sent a shock through Draco's system.
"The true master of the Elder Wand was Draco Malfoy."
What...
The...
Merlin......?
From:

She may have to ask exactly what the Elder Wand was, but that will be later.
But it was something else that sent a shock through Mia.
Tom....
Riddle...........?
What in the name of Althena........?

The legendary wand was his? Because of what happened with Dumbledore? All this time, and he could have access to... Only to have Potter steal his wand AND that on top of it.
(Another chill at the Dark Lord planning to deal with him.)
And now all eyes were on his hawthorn wand as the Elder Wand flew through the air.
And before he could see the result, he finally heard someone screaming his name. Two someones.
"Mum? Dad?" He whispered, and was immediately enveloped by his parents. Even as the Dark Lord fell to the ground dead, the Malfoys were all huddled around each other. Draco shuddered, and clung to them crying. Narcissa shushing him, and even Lucius whispering reassurances.

And she was able to help.
Now, to find Draco. It wasn't too hard since all three Malfoys were together.
She stood in the doorway of the hall, just watching them from afar.
Since when did Slytherin have such a cute girl in their house?

Draco then noticed a familiar sight in the doorway. It was her. How?
He then excused himself, but Narcissa clutched him.
"Stay here. Where are you going?"
He gently disengaged her hand, "I'll be fine, Mother. There's some people I need to speak with. They saved my life."
He glanced over to catch Mia's eyes, "Saved your lives too, and me in more ways than anyone. I just hope you might like her eventually. All I ask."
"Draco, what are you talking about? What's the meaning of this? Who is that? And what about Pansy?"
Draco scoffed, "Pansy was a fool." He then headed over to Mia, and ignoring any eyes on either of them, immediately reached up to cradle her cheeks. Kissing her softly.

When she finally pulls away, she whispers to him, "Missed you."
There's that brilliant smile of hers.

He then leaned back to look at her, and spoke a bit louder, "But Merlin have I missed you terribly."
From:

"Draco, when we decided to be together, we formed a partnership. This wasn't just your battle, it was our battle."
She puts her arms loosely around his neck.
"We fight together. Besides, I'm willing to wager you haven't seen the char-broiled Death Eaters lining some of the hallways they were unfortunate enough to meet me in."
From:

There was a clearing of throats.
"Draco...who is this?" Enter the parents. And their cold eyes took some effort from battle fatigue.
From:

She bows her head and lowers herself in front of them until she is actually kneeling at their feet.
"It is an honor to meet you, Master Lucius and Majesty Narcissa."
They want respect?
What could be more respectful than giving them all the honor that everyone at home gives to her?
From:

The elder Malfoys weren't sure if she was mocking them or serious.
Finally, Narcissa remarked, "Get up, my dear. What is your name?"
Draco went to help her, and he immediately cut in a reply, "This is her majesty, the Lady Mia Ausa, Guildmaster of Vane. My fiancee." And a quick nudge to Mia to play along on that last part. It would seem more serious to say that then simply lover or girlfriend.

"He speaks very highly of you both. He would be lost without you."

Draco immediately cut his father's question off, "She's like us. That's all that matters. The whole pureblood business was nonsense."
His mother immediately replied, "Draco!"
"No, the Dark Lord was a halfblood and a hypocrite, and he's dead now."
His father grabbed his arm, and his son winced from the tight grip as Lucius hissed, "That does not mean that we forget who we are! Show some pride!"
Draco struggled to release his arm, "What pride? There is none!"
"Watch your tongue! How dare you speak to us like this! And you engage yourself to an outsider of questionable parentage? She's only fit to be a servant."
This last was from his mother, and Draco just coldly replied, "Goodbye, Mother, Father. I likely won't see you again then." He roughly struggled his arm free, and went to lead Mia away.
"Let's go. I need to see about my wand if possible anyway."
From:

There is a soft look to Draco's parents. Almost pleading
"Hate me if you must. I won't return it. But don't tear yourselves away from Draco because of me."
From:
no subject
"No," Draco replied, and started backing away, tugging Mia with him.
Lucius started forward at them, "Draco, stop this nonsense now. Leave this rubbish, and we'll talk about finding someone more suitable later."
"I said no, Father. That's not my home anymore. The Dark Lord's poisoned it. I'll see about my things later."
His parents looked like he had slapped them.
"I will allow that you have been through a horrible ordeal, but either come with us now, or not at all," Lucius coldly said. Narcissa glanced toward her husband, and touched his arm. He just gave a look back in reply, and now they were both looking coldly at the younger pair.
"Goodbye," And Draco continued to walk away from them.
From:

Another bow to them.
"I'm sorry."
She doesn't know what else to say to them, except, "Goodbye."
She does look sincerely regretful as she turns to walk away with Draco.
And now that they're alone, she quietly asks, "Fiancee?"
From:
no subject
He turned back, "If you ever change your mind, you can start by thanking her for saving our lives. None of us would have survived if it wasn't for her, and those supplies I gave you."
He then went to walk away, not even waiting to see the likely stunned faces at that.
The crowds were starting to go back inside, or just leaving, so it was quieter in the courtyard.
He then said, "I had to say something. And it sounds much more serious than girlfriend. And I certainly wasn't going to say lover in front of them. Also, to make it that harder from them to attempt to break it up."
He obviously wasn't surprised by his parents reaction at all.
From:

A little smile.
"You're a lot like them, but that's not a bad thing. In fact, it's all the better since you're just as stubborn as they are."
She leans on his shoulder.
"It's nice to have you on my side. I wish I could say they will be, too, someday, but it's a very different situation with them than it was with you."

"So, shall we go home?"
From:

"I need to speak with Potter, and then yes, we'll go home."
Funny how it was even feeling more like it than the one he grew up in.

Another kiss.
"Take as long as you need. I hate to say it, but I'm not exactly in a rush."
It's been a few days since Kyle and Jessica's wedding and she's still not speaking to Nash.
