Malfoy Manor: Here we go again...

Math classes aren't something usually taught at the Magic Guild. And while more is known about pregnancy on Lunar nowadays, even the best of them get their timing off.

So when Mia started feeling regular contractions at about two or three in the morning while staying at her in-laws' home, she was surprised. Not too surprised, but surprised.

She was just glad she could manage to sleep about as well as Draco did, not shaking him on the shoulder to wake him until she just couldn't sleep through them anymore. By then, dawn had already come and she thought telling her husband would be a good idea.

"Draco," she whispers to him. "I miscalculated."

Draco blinked his eyes awake, and turned on his side toward her. He frowned with the mild confusion of someone slowly waking up, and mind still fuzzy from sleep.

"Miscalculated?"

He could probably even feel the tightening in her abdomen as a contraction hits. She briefly grimaces.

"Baby's coming," she tells him when she can. "Today."

Draco immediately sat up at that. "Merlin take it, I thought we had more time!" He floundered, and went to grab for his wand and clothes for them both.

There was no time so a quick charm to help get dressed before he did a Sonurus charm to alert his parents.

"Oops?"

Mia carefully sits herself up and rubs at her belly, the contraction passed for now.

And idly wondering why he's getting clothes for her, too. She doesn't see much point. The summer is already far too hot to her and her nightdress sufficient for what's to come.

"Calm down, Draco," she says. "We've been through this before, after all. And you remember what it was like with Cepheus. Babies come when they're ready. This one's just ready now."

"All the more reason to hurry," Draco remarked simply. Yes, he knew Cepheus took a while, but he would feel better if they were on their way, and ready.

He didn't hear from his father, but Narcissa quickly stepped down the hall to say not to worry about Cepheus. Clearly it was more grandma time for her.

"Hurry?"

Mia's not exactly sure what her husband's trying to do. And she's starting to wonder if she should have told him earlier if this is his reaction.

But darn it, they're about to lose their sleeping privileges again. She didn't want them to miss out on their last night.

Draco paused in mid step as he glanced back at her.

"Shouldn't we?" he asked with clear puzzlement.

"I know it was a while the first time, but wouldn't it be better to be on our way?"

"Where?" she asks, equally puzzled.

Though the puzzled expression doesn't last long. A contraction was on the heel of her question.

He started to answer, and then stepped forward when he saw her reacting. They had to time them right? He remembered that much from last time.

"How long do you think?"

If he's near enough, she'll grasp his hand as she breathes through her contraction.

"I guess around five minutes in between?" she says when it's over.

And then to the other matter.

"Are you saying we have to go somewhere to have the baby?" Mia asks, the thought never crossing her mind until this moment. "Where would we go? At this rate, I don't think we can make it home."

He placed a hand over hers for a moment to support her, and nodded.

"Well there might be time to drive to St Mungo's. Unless you think I should Apparate there for a Mediwizard?" He didn't want to leave her alone for long, but Floo not Apparate would work so close to term.

"Drive? You can drive?"

Mia somehow doubts that.

"Why not get your father to bring a Mediwizard?"

"...I'm learning?" Maybe not the best time.

"I'll be right back." He hurried and then Apparated away to locate his father.

She's not entirely sure how he's learning since they don't have cars on Lunar. In any case, she's never seen him drive before and isn't sure she wants to be in a car like this.

Mia nods at that and, while he's gone, grabs some writing utensils from the nightstand. If she's going to have the baby here, everyone at home will expect some explanation. Better to send word now than later.

She addresses it to Rabastan and almost completes the note before another contraction comes, causing her hand to skitter off course in a messy zigzag of ink. But it will do.

Once she's caught her breath again, she gets herself out of bed. Their door is close by and, fortunately, so is Croix when she creeks it open. She dares not step in herself, lest she suddenly find herself Bound and away from Draco.

"Fly this to Uncle Rabastan," she instructs her owl, who then takes back off to the bar.

That done, she returns to lean over the bed, bracing herself with her hands against the mattress in preparation for further contractions.

Draco Apparated back with a bang outside the door. Only to avoid startling her since she had enough with the contractions to deal with.

"He's on his way. They should be back presently. How are you?" He hurried over to touch her shoulder. He already learned that one should NEVER be in the tight grips of a pregnant woman's fist. Not if one didn't want to drink a potion to mend the crushed fingers.

Oh come on, his hand healed.

"Managing," she tells him.

Her head droops down as she pants through another contraction.

"This one's not waiting around."

His grey eyes widened.

"It's coming NOW?!"

Merlin, where is that Mediwizard?!

Mia leans a little further over the mattress, doing her best to focus on breathing and not her panicking husband.

"Soon," she replies. "Not right now but..."

Despite his best efforts, she does blindly reach out beside her for his hand. He might luck out and leave her with a handful of robe instead.

"I remember it like this not long before I had to push."

"I knew it! I said we should hurry! Of course this one would be sooner!" Draco was going to get up to check on where the Mediwizard was but stopped at his wife clutching him. Luckily it was his robe, but he stayed put to place a hand on her cheek.

"All right, just remember your breathing. Need to find the Mediwizard. It shouldn't be taking Father so long." Granted it had only been a few minutes.

"I didn't know you expected me to go anywhere!" she gets out in frustration.

Oh, but his hand on her cheek makes her instantly apologetic, her eyes welling a bit with tears.

"Draco, I'm sorry I yelled," Mia whimpers.

"It's all right, darling," he knew she was in pain. He leaned down to kiss her briefly.

He then moved away just as the Mediwizard was rushing in to help. The witch pulled out her wand to check over vitals.

"How far apart are they, my dear?"

"Not sure," Mia answers, easing herself back on to the bed completely. "Closer than five minutes. Kind of starting to run together."

The witch nodded, and went to check her dilation. Draco meanwhile stepped closer again, but to keep a hand on her shoulder for support.

"All right, I can see the baby crowning so I want you to go ahead and push."

The witch likely didn't have to say a thing, as Mia had let out a small shriek and nearly shouted, "I can feel the head!" almost as soon as the Mediwizard began her examination.

But she does as she's told and pushes, reaching to grip at Draco's hand.

The Mediwizard continued to coach her on her pushing and breathing. Her wand continued moving to track the baby's progress and the health of both baby and mother through the birth.

Draco's free hand came over to gently stroke her hair back. It did briefly tightened as he grimaced at Mia's grip on his other hand.

"Easy, darling. Just a little more," he commented even with his tight expression from pain.

She barely even hears him and certainly doesn't notice his expression. But the hand holding his subconsciously changes from the previous tight grip to rubbing his fingers, as if in apology.

After a few more pushes, Mia makes a strangled gasp as the baby's head is delivered.

"How much more?" she gets out.

"Keep pushing, you're doing well, Mrs. Malfoy, ma'am," the witch commented as she came closer to cradle the baby's head and shoulders emerging.

"Just a few more. Really big push now."

Draco's expression calmed, and gave her another kiss to her forehead for reassurance. He will be taking a potion after for his fingers, that's all. He should have expected, really.

Mia catches her breath and puts her strength into a really big push.

And not long after there's the telltale crying and signs of movement.

"Is the baby all right?" she asks, carefully leaning over to look.

But she doesn't even wait for an answer. She gently brushes her fingers against her child, smiling with awe.

"A little boy. We have another son."

Draco moved around to get a better look, and smiled.

"Two sons. He's wonderful, luv." He leaned down to give her a proper kiss.

Mia gladly kisses him back and murmurs, "Sorry about your fingers."

And soon she's holding their baby, fingers tracing against his soft cheek as he burbles and wriggles.

"Hello, Scorpius," she tells him, not even hesitating to ask Draco if that was the name they wanted for certain.

At this point, she just knows.
