The Magic Guild: Late Night Snacks

Mia stirred and woke up in the middle of the night. She snuggled up more against Draco and tried to nod off again.

But she couldn't shake the sudden, odd feeling of hunger. She looked over her husband and wondered how deeply he was sleeping. Maybe he wouldn't mind giving her some company?

So she kissed Draco's cheek and whispered, "Draco? Draco, are you awake, honey?"

Draco eyed her oddly back at that.

"...A craving?"

"Yes," she agrees.

And then she notices the look.

"What?"

Draco shrugged even as he remarked, "It might be nothing. Only... the last time you had cravings like this... well?" His hands went out to the sides as he gestured.

"Have you noticed anything else different lately?" Please don't make him ask about womanly issues. Mia, he will whine. More than usual.

Mia takes a moment to think.

"Not in particular?" she says slowly and with uncertainty. "I mean, some things just kind of stayed different after Cepheus was born. And we've been keeping up with our charm.

Draco grew very quiet at that. Have they? He tried to remember the last time they used it. The problem was, they had been intimate so rarely these day. Either too tired from work or taking care of Cepheus. And of course they had less free time these days except visits to Milliways. And even then their son was often with them.

"...Maybe not as much as we should have."

And yet it wouldn't be an issue if it hadn't happened lately.

"I'll go to Milliways really quick to get a test. Just to make sure."

She gives Draco a kiss on his forehead as she leaves to go down the hall.

A little while later, she's back with a small, familiar box.

"I've got one that's easier to read," she says, leading them back to the bedroom. "This one will actually read, 'Pregnant,' or 'Not Pregnant,' instead of that line business."

"How wonderful, someone finally decided to apply logic to those horrid Muggle things," Draco dryly replied as he followed her.

"Well, if you remember, the last time we used one of these, we wanted it to be discreet."

She then steps into the bathroom and closes the door. She opens it again shortly after with the test sitting on the sink.

Mia takes a seat on the edge of the tub, holding her hand out to Draco while they wait.

"Right. I'm right here, Mia," He quietly said after she came out, and gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. He also leaned over, bringing their joined hands up to kiss the back of hers.

She smiles a little.

"I'm not worried," she tells him. "But if I am, I might get emotional."

She even feels a little emotional now, nuzzling her head against his.

After a little while, she asks, "Do you think it's ready?"

He moved closer, his free hand coming back behind her shoulder to hold her close.

"It's been a few minutes," he agreed.

She moves to stand up and reaches to pick up the test.

When she reads the results, she sniffles at first but there's laughter mixed with the tears.

"What? What is it?" He tried to peer over at the stick.

"Really?"

She nods, leaning on him a little.

"You were right."

The test gets put down and she puts one of her hands over her stomach.

She laughs and sniffles a little more.

He leaned over to give her another kiss before his hand came to rest over hers.

"When do you want to tell Cepheus? After your check up?"

She gladly kisses back.

"We should tell him after we've let others know. That little lark will certainly let all he meets know as soon as he's got the idea in his head."

"Of course," he smiled. He knew how talkative Cepheus was getting already.

"He shouldn't be an only child like we were. How long did you want to wait on the news then?"

"I think I'd like to do the check up with Jessica first. Just as a confirmation."

Though to be fair, they haven't had a false result on those tests before.

"We should likely tell your parents sooner than we did about Cepheus."

She giggles brightly before putting her arms around his neck, holding him tight.

"I love you, Draco."
