The Magic Guild: Father's Day
Mia gently woke up Sunday morning from the light coming in from the window. It didn't take long for it to come to her mind that today she has work to do.
She carefully got out of bed so she didn't disturb Draco, went to check if Cepheus was awake (she caught him right before he could start fussing), and took him to the kitchen so she could care for him while she worked.
She came back some time later, her arm keeping Cepheus on her hip while her free hand carefully gestured for the levitating tray. The smells of sausage and Vanetian truffle quiche (an idea borrowed from those cooking television shows Draco seemed to enjoy whenever they were on holiday and a television was nearby) followed them in. The tray settled on the bed in such a way that Draco wouldn't knock it over when he woke up.
Mia carefully sat Cepheus against her propped up pillow so she could lean over, brush Draco's hair out of his face, and give him a kiss.
"Happy Father's Day, Beloved," she whispers to him.
Cepheus reaches for his Papa, so Mama gently supports him. The baby puts his hand on Papa's cheek and presses his mouth against Papa's forehead, just like Mama did.

"Mmm, morning Mia, and Cepheus. Something smells delightful." He was too sleepy to quite catch what the occasion was. He was tempted to take Cepheus, but there was a tray there which meant juggling it and their son would be too much at the moment.

Mia makes sure the tray is far enough back that Draco can hold Cepheus without causing any problems.
"I made a quiche for you. With sausage and truffles."
Cepheus reaches a hand out towards the tray.
"Cepheus supervised to make sure I did it right."

Cepheus reached for the bacon, only for Draco to gently move his hand away, "Ah-ah, Mummy will feed you if you're hungry. You're too little for some."

Cepheus answers by bringing his hand back to Draco to grasp his night shirt. He looks up to his father and goes, "Daaaaaaaaaa."

"....Did he just..." He shifted Cepheus to stare back at him with wonder, "What did you say, Cepheus?"

Mia carefully sits back on the bed and looks at Cepheus, her face lighting up with excitement.
"Cepheus dear, are you talking to Daddy?"
"Da da?" he says again.

"Our brilliant, beautiful boy," Mia says, beaming with maternal pride. "And on Father's Day, too."

"He's growing so fast, Mia."

"One day he'll even be big enough to pick out and wrap your presents himself. Speaking of which..."
Mia reaches down to the floor and picks up the present she set there.
"Happy Father's Day, Daddy."
"Dada," Cepheus reiterates.

"Oh, the herbs smell too strong for you, don't they, dear? I was wondering why he was hiding his face in my robe when I got these. I thought he was being shy around the woman selling them."
Cepheus babbles into his Papa's shirt.

Mia reaches down and gets another present.
"He'll be able to handle these better because they're sealed up," she says, handing Draco the wrapped up set of oils.
no subject
"Lovely, thank you."

There's one last package, a smaller one this time, and two bars of soap are sitting in it.
"The honey-anise one is for us and the mint one is for Cepheus."
She picks up the one that smells like mint and Cepheus reaches for it.
"Apparently he likes the smell of mint a lot."

"You two should finish up breakfast, then, and have a nice, full day before that bath. I'm sure there's plenty to do together with all of Cepheus's marvelous toys and storybooks."
Not even half a year old and the child is already sure to be spoiled.
"And you'll have to work up an appetite later for the surprise Mummy made for Daddy to go after lunch."

"Probably not what you're thinking of, but it will be one of your favorite sort of things," Mia says.
